Imagine this – while grandma was in a nursing home, her grandson Tomas E., a plumber from Germany, managed to steal a staggering half a million euros from her! Yes, you read that right – 500,000 euros! This all happened over several months, between July and February, while grandma was helpless and trusting her grandson. Tomas used grandma’s bank card to withdraw and transfer money, and the bank eventually noticed the missing funds and reported it to the police. But that’s not the end – Tomas fled abroad, only to be caught by Serbian police the following January.
In court, he claimed that grandma instructed him to gradually withdraw the money to distribute it equally among her five grandchildren at a family celebration. But the real truth is Tomas admitted that he stole a large part of the money from grandma’s nightstand and squandered it on gambling, lottery, and kiosks. Grandma, now 89 years old, says she had no idea about the missing money and was completely deceived.
The judge demanded further investigation, and the family is in shock – the accused’s aunt says grandma became physically and mentally ill from the stress, and sadly, she died just hours before she was to testify in court. This is a real drama showing how far some people will go to betray trust and destroy their loved ones for money.
