Grlić Radman: Montenegro’s EU Membership is Croatia’s National Interest!

Did you know that Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman recently declared that Montenegro’s membership in the European Union is a national interest of Croatia? Yes, you read that right! While many wonder what’s going on with Montenegro and its European path, Croatia is making it crystal clear that it cares about its neighbor. Grlić Radman led the Croatian delegation at the World Expo in Osaka, where he visited Montenegro’s pavilion and was impressed by the country’s visual presentation. He emphasized that Croatia supports Montenegro’s EU path and will continue to do so because it’s in Croatia’s national interest.

But wait, there’s more! Grlić Radman stressed the importance of reform processes and respecting European values, including the rule of law and resolving open bilateral issues. He also welcomed Montenegro’s government decision to finally resolve the status of the Josip Marković Cultural Center in Donja Lastva, a key step in strengthening cooperation.

The joint presence of Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia at the World Expo in Japan contributes to better cultural understanding and stronger tourism promotion in the region. But is everything really so rosy? While Croatia waves the flag of friendship, Montenegro faces numerous internal problems and political tensions. Is Croatia’s support genuine or just diplomatic theater?

Either way, it’s clear that Croatia sees Montenegro as an important regional partner and cares about its European path. What about you? Do you believe Montenegro will really join the EU soon, or is it just a distant dream? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s for and who’s against!
