Belgrade’s public transport is on the brink of meltdown! From July 16 to August 10, due to construction works at Republic Square, GSP bus lines are getting a total makeover that will make you wonder if anyone actually thought about the passengers. The center of the intersection of Francuska, Makedonska, and Kolarčeva streets will be completely blocked, meaning lines 22a, 24, and 31 will run on routes that sound like they were made up last minute. Line 22a will run from Slavija Square through Kralja Milana, Terazije, Kolarčeva, Republic Square, Francuska, Cara Dušana, all the way to Studentski Trg. Line 24 will run along Cara Dušana, Francuska, Kolarčeva, Terazije, Kralja Milana, Slavija Square, and then continue normally. Line 29a is canceled, and line 31 will run from Konjarnik through Kralja Milana, Terazije, Kolarčeva, Republic Square, and then continue normally. If you thought that’s it, think again — traffic will be totally jammed, and passengers will battle crowds and delays. Did anyone at the Public Transport Secretariat even think about how people will get to work or school on time? Apparently not. This change is a true test of patience for all Belgraders. If you planned to use GSP in the next month, brace yourself for chaos, because all lines will be running in circles like some pointless maze. And yes, don’t forget to bring a good dose of patience and maybe a great podcast, because you’ll need it! Got a hilarious story about how you survived this mess? Share it — maybe you’ll make us all laugh or feel better! Who knows, your story might just be the summer hit in Belgrade!
