Hamad Medjedovic Out in Mallorca ATP Quarterfinals: Is This the End of the Dream?

Let’s be real – Hamad Medjedovic, the Serbian tennis prodigy, didn’t make it to the semifinals of the ATP Mallorca tournament. In the quarterfinals, he was stopped by Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, currently ranked 27th in the world, with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 after two hours and ten minutes of battle. Medjedovic, ranked 73rd on the ATP list, showed potential but clearly wasn’t ready for the next step. Earlier, in the first round, he crushed American Nisar Basavaredia 6-4, 6-0, raising expectations. But in the quarters, Auger-Aliassime’s strength and experience proved too much.

The grass-court tournament in Mallorca boasts a prize fund of several hundred thousand euros, and Auger-Aliassime will face Dutchman Talon Griekspoor in the semifinals. Medjedovic has shown he can fight with the best, but he’s not quite ready for big breakthroughs yet. Is this just a stepping stone in his career or a sign he needs a lot more work?

If you think this is the end for the young Serbian, think again. He’s just starting his pro career and has already shown he can win at the ATP level. But if he wants to reach the top, he needs to learn how to win the big matches, not just dominate early rounds.

While Auger-Aliassime moves on, Hamad will have to hit the courts harder than ever. What do you think? Is this just a small bump or the start of trouble for our young ace? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s the optimist and who’s the pessimist in this story!
