Arrests of Serbs on Vidovdan: Pristina Police as Albini Kurti’s Instrument

Vidovdan Under Siege: How Pristina Police Are Arresting Serbs Over Flags and Symbols

Vidovdan, a day symbolizing the perseverance and suffering of the Serbian people, did not pass peacefully this year. Instead of celebration, Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija faced pressure, threats, and arrests by the Pristina police, which, according to the Serbian List, has become an open tool for targeting the Serbian people.

Arrests Over Serbian Flags and Historical Symbols

On Vidovdan itself, more than 15 Serbs were detained simply for wearing Serbian flags or clothing with historical symbols. Among those detained was a 12-year-old girl who peacefully attended the Vidovdan celebrations. Is this normal? Is it normal for children to be questioned for celebrating their holiday?

Provocations and Intimidation in Gračanica

In the municipality of Gračanica, where Serbs make up 95% of the population, a column of people carrying Albanian flags passed by the monastery, and the Pristina police did not react to the provocations. Instead of protecting peace, they are arresting Serbs who are peacefully commemorating their holiday.

The Goal is Clear: Intimidation and Erasure of Serbian Identity

The Serbian List clearly states that the goal of such actions is to intimidate Serbs, drive them out, and erase every symbol of their identity in Kosovo and Metohija. During Vidovdan, 17 people were detained; one was held on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons. Others were questioned or released after questioning.

The International Community Cannot Stay Silent

The Serbian List warns that the international community cannot remain a silent observer of such persecution. Silence means complicity in the systematic oppression of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

Vidovdan – A Symbol of Perseverance and Struggle

Despite everything, Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija remain and endure. The Serbian List stands with its people and is determined to continue the democratic and political struggle for survival, peace, and justice.

Is This the End of Freedom for Serbs in Kosovo?

As the Pristina police turn into a tool for targeting Serbs, and the international community turns a blind eye, the question arises – when will this pressure end? Will Vidovdan become a day of fear instead of pride?
