Scorching Heatwave in Serbia: Thousands in Belgrade Fainting Due to Heatstroke!
Belgrade on the brink of collapse! As Serbia bakes under the Saharan sun, thousands of Belgraders are flooding emergency lines with the same symptoms – dizziness, chest pains, and blood pressure drops. The Clinical Center of Serbia’s internal and cardiology clinics reported hundreds of patients yesterday complaining about blood pressure regulation issues and chest pain.
Young people running in the heat and collapsing! Professor Ristić warns that physical exertion in these extreme temperatures can be deadly, even for young people. One young patient tried to lose weight by running in a windbreaker in the scorching heat and ended up completely dehydrated!
How does the heat kill? Heat causes blood vessels to dilate, leading to a drop in blood pressure. For people with narrowed heart arteries, known as atherosclerosis or angina pectoris, this can worsen symptoms – dizziness, fainting, and loss of consciousness.
Experts sound the alarm! Dr. Biserka Obradović from Kurir advises how to help someone who has collapsed: lay them down, raise their legs and arms to get blood to the brain, give them water with a pinch of salt, but never pour water on them or slap them!
How to survive the hell? Hydration is key! Older people often don’t feel thirsty, so they should drink one or two glasses of water more than they feel they need. Avoid alcohol, coffee, and fizzy drinks, eat smaller and more frequent meals, and avoid direct sunlight.
Meteorologists confirm: Serbia is a pressure cooker! Temperatures in some cities exceed 40°C, and Belgrade is the second hottest capital in Europe after Athens! A red weather alert is in effect, and meteorologist Ivan Ristić says more days of scorching heat are ahead.
Emergency services at breaking point! Thousands of calls daily, people fainting, and the healthcare system struggling to cope. Is this just the beginning? Will the authorities finally realize the seriousness of the situation, or will we all fry eggs on the pavement together?
So, dear readers, drink water, don’t run in the sun, and take care of yourselves and your loved ones! And if you’ve already fainted, don’t be mad if someone doesn’t pour water on you – that’s not help, it’s a problem!
And hey, if you have a hilarious story about how you survived this heatwave or saw someone trying to run in 40+ degrees, share it in the comments! Let’s see who the real summer hero is!
