Herceg Novi Film Festival: Over 60 Films, New Programs, and Tributes to Legends

Herceg Novi is Back as the Film Capital!

From August 23 to 29, Herceg Novi will become the regional hub of film art in Southeast Europe. The 38th Herceg Novi Montenegro Film Festival is bringing over 60 films across three competitive selections and rich non-competitive programs under the slogan “All Colors of Film.”

Over 60 Films and a Regional Record This year, the festival boasts a record number of Montenegrin films, including minority co-productions from Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Audiences will enjoy feature films in the stunning setting of Kanli Kula fortress, carefully selected by film critic Vuk Perović.

Documentaries and Young Filmmakers in the Spotlight The garden of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić’s house will host documentary films from around the world, curated by director Vladimir Perović. Young filmmakers will showcase their works in the student film selection at a new location, Mića Pavlović Square, selected by director Sara Stijović.

TV Niche and Special Programs A new non-competitive selection called “TV Niche” will present the latest TV series productions, while Forte Mare fortress will offer special screenings dedicated to legends like drummer Dragoljub Đuričić, Oscar winner Dušan Vukotić, and the cult band Haustor.

Film Industry Days and Regional Cooperation In collaboration with the Montenegrin Film Center, the Montenegro Film Rendezvous industry days will be held for the second time, gathering authors, producers, and selectors from the region to open doors for new partnerships and co-productions.

A Festival You Can’t Miss! The festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, the Municipality of Herceg Novi, and the public cultural institution HercegFest. If you love film, art, and a great vibe, this event will blow your mind.
