The Hell of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma: Nataša’s Fight That Will Make You Rethink Life!
Imagine being just 29 years old and suddenly diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a disease that turns your world upside down. Nataša Granovljević, now 34, went through a nightmare most of us can’t even imagine. The diagnosis came by chance after a lung infection and a CT scan revealed the lymphoma.
First Blow: Chemotherapy and Fear Nataša had no idea what Hodgkin’s lymphoma was, let alone that she would have to undergo chemotherapy. The first treatment terrified her to the core. Imagine facing eight months of brutal treatment, five chemotherapy protocols, and a stem cell transplant! Each therapy brought new side effects: nausea, fatigue, itching, hair loss — and that was just the beginning.
Second Blow: Relapse and Even More Aggressive Treatment Just when she thought she had beaten the disease, the lymphoma returned! The relapse was discovered by chance when she noticed a lump on her neck. This time, the treatment was even more aggressive, with many side effects, including loss of voice.
Immunotherapy – A Light at the End of the Tunnel? Although Nataša underwent 16 immunotherapy sessions with side effects, she says it was the easiest treatment. No heaviness, no nausea, and her hair didn’t fall out. So why isn’t it used more? Because the traditional treatment system still focuses on chemotherapy and its dreadful consequences.
Psychological Battle and Support Nataša admits the disease doesn’t end with the last therapy. Neuropathy, psychological issues, fears — all stay with her. She learned to allow herself all emotions: crying, anger, laughter. Support from her family and the LIPA association, where she found people who understand her, was crucial.
A Message for All of Us Nataša’s story is not just about illness but about strength, courage, and a new outlook on life. Every cancer patient gets a “restart” in life, a new dimension. Nataša reminds us not to judge those who fight because we don’t know what they’re going through.
