Belgrade, September 29 – The trial of Ognjen Dabetić (35), accused of the horrific murder of transgender person Noa Milivojev (18), has been postponed again due to a three-day lawyers’ strike in Serbia. The victim’s roommate reported Noa missing, while Dabetić refused to present a defense, claiming innocence. According to the indictment, on June 17 last year, in his apartment in central Belgrade, Dabetić, after renewing contact with Noa, abused their trust and emotional bond. In a fit of rage and feelings of betrayal, he strangled Noa with an electric cable, then dismembered the body in the bathroom using a knife and chemicals. Body parts were found on July 6 in PVC containers and barrels, soaked with substances containing amphetamines, mirtazapine, clozapine, paracetamol, and ibuprofen. This case shocked the public and reopened the discussion on violence against LGBT+ individuals in the region. While justice is still pending, Noa’s family and friends demand safety and answers. Is this just another crime or a wake-up call for society? Share your thoughts—maybe together we can make a difference.
