Abbot Chrysostom: Journalists, Stop the Lies and Media Witch Hunts!

In Montenegro, the media storm around the Reževići Monastery and its former abbot, Father Chrysostom, has erupted again. After the ETV portal published an article linking members of the Škaljari criminal group with the Democratic Party of Socialists, Abbot Chrysostom responded sharply but spiritually. He reminded everyone that a priest is obliged to receive anyone seeking help, regardless of what the media or society says about them.

The abbot openly questioned: if Marko Ljubiša and his associates are truly criminals, why haven’t they been convicted? Why does Montenegro’s legal system not recognize them as criminals, while they remain free? He reminded that these people have repented before God, and their repentance was accepted. He also warned those behind the orchestrated attacks on him and the monastery, noting that many of them have ended up in prison.

This statement has sparked a public uproar as it directly contradicts media claims and raises questions about justice and the legal system in Montenegro. Abbot Chrysostom declared he will always be there for those seeking help, even if the whole world abandons them.

This situation opens a broader debate about the role of media, justice, and the church in society, as well as how accusations and repentance are treated in the public sphere. Is this a call for understanding and mercy, or an attempt to cover up something serious? The public is divided, and the discussion is just beginning.

If you have your own take on this, feel free to share it — maybe you hold the answer to the question everyone is asking: where is the line between truth and lies in the media and society?
