The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has filed an indictment against four individuals, including a former public official, for agricultural subsidy fraud and abuse of office. The accused falsely reported larger agricultural land areas to obtain higher subsidies from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF). The investigation revealed that they submitted financial support claims for larger areas than they actually owned, unlawfully obtaining a total of 77,000 euros. Part of the damage amounting to 42,000 euros has been repaid. This case highlights issues of corruption and abuse in the agricultural subsidy allocation system in Croatia.
