Inflation in Serbia: Why Are Prices Skyrocketing While the Government Stays Silent?

Inflation in Serbia hit a staggering 4.6% in June compared to the same month last year, and prices rose by 0.9% compared to May this year. The Republic Statistical Office reported that food and non-alcoholic beverage prices jumped 1.7%, while recreation and culture soared by 2.2%. Transport costs increased by 0.9%, and health, restaurants, and hotels by 0.6%. Housing, water, electricity, and gas prices rose by 0.3%. The only slight relief was a 0.1% drop in alcohol and tobacco prices.
