Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip have once again shown how the world turns a blind eye to the suffering of innocents. Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that at least 27 Palestinians, including children, were killed in morning strikes across the territory devastated after 21 months of war. Yes, you read that right – 27 people, including women and children, were killed while the world mostly stays silent or focuses on its own problems.
The strikes hit homes and displaced persons camps, with five killed just in Gaza City, including a child. In the Nuseirat refugee camp, ten people died in a single strike on a house. Another six were killed near a drinking water distribution center, and three more in the Al Mavasi camp in southern Gaza. All this while the Israeli military remains silent and does not comment on these reports.
Due to restrictions imposed by Israel on the media, access to the area is nearly impossible, making independent verification of these figures impossible. But is that an excuse not to react? While children die, the world pretends not to see. This is not just a tragedy for Gaza; it’s a disgrace for humanity.
If you think this is far from us, think again. The world is connected, and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. If you have something to say, maybe it’s time to say it – because silence is complicity.
