The Italian Data Protection Agency has blocked the Chinese app DeepSeek due to insufficient information about the collection of personal data. The company must explain how it collects data, from which sources, for what purposes, and on what legal basis. The app is now unavailable for download in Italy. DeepSeek introduced the free R1 Kleptal robot and surpassed ChatGPT in the number of downloads in Apple’s app store.
