Here we go again, waiting for Greece to get its act together and launch the unified toll collection system with Serbia, even though Serbia has been ready for months! Aleksandra Sofronijević made it clear – Serbia was ready to implement the “toll for all” system and connect with Greece three to four months ago. But, surprise surprise, Greece is dragging its feet! Is this yet another example of our neighbors managing to slow down things that would make our lives easier?
The “toll for all” system is ready, the software is in place, all formal conditions are met, contracts are signed, and the only thing missing is for Greece to finally stop delaying. Although it was announced that the unified toll collection would start on July 1st, it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Just imagine how much this would simplify travel and reduce border queues! Instead of drivers struggling with different tags and systems, they could use one unified tag for Serbia and Greece. But no, looks like we’ll have to wait a little more for Greece to get moving.
Is this just a technical issue or something else? Could there be some behind-the-scenes complications they’re not telling us about? All we know is Serbia is ready and waiting, and Greece is late. Meanwhile, tolls keep being collected the old-fashioned way, and drivers are getting frustrated.
