After 30 attempts, the Kosovo Assembly was not constituted as only 52 deputies voted in the secret ballot for the election of the parliament president. Deputies from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Democratic League of Kosovo, Serbian List, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo coalition did not propose members of the election commission nor participated in the voting. The session began with a moment of silence in honor of former Kosovo Prime Minister Bujar Bakoši. The next attempt to constitute the assembly is scheduled for June 13.
Political Perspectives:
Left: Left-leaning outlets emphasize the political deadlock and the challenges in Kosovo’s democratic processes, highlighting the boycott by opposition parties and the implications for governance and stability in the region.
Center: Centrist sources report the facts of the failed assembly constitution attempts, focusing on the procedural aspects, the low turnout in voting, and the scheduled next session, maintaining a neutral tone without attributing blame.
Right: Right-leaning media may stress the obstruction by certain political factions, particularly those representing ethnic minorities or opposition groups, framing the failure as a consequence of political fragmentation and lack of cooperation.
