A federal judge in Maryland, Deborah Boardman, has blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order that limits the right to citizenship based on birth in the U.S. Boardman supported immigrant rights groups and pregnant women who argued that their children could be unconstitutionally denied citizenship. The lawsuit invokes the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which guarantees citizenship to all born in the U.S. This is the second court decision blocking Trump’s order, following a similar decision by a court in Seattle.
