Justice Minister Blasts Pressure on Užice Court: The Street Is Not the Judge!

Užice has become the epicenter of chaos, and Justice Minister Nenad Vujić is not holding back! He has sharply condemned the pressure on the Basic Court in Užice, where citizens took to the streets demanding the release of seven individuals detained for attacking police during a blockade of a main road. Vujić makes it crystal clear: the street is not the judge!

Pressure on the court via social media and street protests is, according to the minister, a direct attack on the constitutional order and the safety of Serbian citizens. The 30-day detention decision was made due to attacks on police, not participation in protests. The minister expects an urgent response from the competent authorities, especially the Special Department for High-Tech Crime of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.

At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) warns that blocking roads, including state roads and highways, is unacceptable and endangers traffic safety and citizens’ right to freedom of movement. During the summer tourist season, tens of thousands of vehicles, mostly foreign nationals, pass daily through Pan-European corridors 10 and 11, so blockades would cause huge damage to the economy and Serbia’s international reputation.

The police will take all lawful measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and public order. Vujić and MUP send a clear message: chaos on the streets and pressure on courts will not be tolerated. The street is not the judge, and justice is not served on social media or by blocking roads.

Will citizens get the message, or will conflicts continue? One thing is certain — justice and law must come first, even when public anger runs high. What do you think about pressure on courts and road blockades? Share your thoughts, maybe you have the solution to this mess!
