Peter Sorensen has been appointed as the European Union’s special envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, replacing Miroslav Lajčak. The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kalas, will also be directly involved in the negotiations. Sorensen’s mandate lasts for 13 months, and experts believe that Kalas could have a significant impact on the dialogue due to her diplomatic legitimacy. During Lajčak’s mandate, many meetings were held, but most did not yield concrete results. Sorensen is expected to focus on advancing the dialogue and implementing Ohr.
Peter Sorensen is the new EU envoy for Serbia-Kosovo talks.
