The Dirty Campaign Against the Prosecutor Who Dared to Do His Job!
In Serbia, a full-blown media and political witch hunt is underway against Mladen Nenadić, the chief prosecutor for organized crime. As he takes on indictments in key cases, the government and pro-government tabloids spare no effort to discredit him and portray him as an enemy of the state.
The Canopy Collapse and Corruption – Who’s to Blame?
After the tragic collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad railway station, which killed 16 people, massive protests erupted across Serbia. Citizens demand accountability and a criminal investigation, suspecting corruption caused the disaster. However, the government dismisses the allegations and blames the experts, while the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office takes over the case. That’s when the campaign against Nenadić begins.
Tabloids and Government – The Perfect Discrediting Duo
Pro-government tabloids publish private photos and false claims, portraying Nenadić as a “blockade prosecutor” allegedly involved in a state coup. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić goes further, claiming foreign forces are behind the attempt to overthrow the state. Posters with his image and names appear on Belgrade streets, fueling a lynch atmosphere.
The Prosecutor’s Office Fights for Independence
The Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office responded with a statement condemning the pressure and emphasizing that such statements undermine judicial independence. Yet the pressure continues, and Nenadić remains a target of a government that clearly does not want corruption and abuse cases to be exposed.
Why Does This Matter?
This campaign is not just an attack on one prosecutor but on Serbia’s legal system as a whole. While the government tries to control the judiciary, citizens are left unprotected from corruption and crime. The canopy collapse is just the tip of the iceberg, and the investigation led by Nenadić could reveal much that the government wants to keep hidden.
What Do You Think?
Is this a fight for justice or an attempt by the government to silence inconvenient voices? If you have an opinion, feel free to share it – maybe your voice can help break through this media darkness!
