Parenting Caravan: Does the State Really Care About Families or Is It Just a Show?

Dear parents, get ready for the event of the year – the Parenting Caravan has started! But is this really help or just another show for the public? The Ministry of Family Care and Demography launched the campaign “Family at Heart” aiming to strengthen parenting skills and support families. The first caravan was held in Šabac, at the Maslačak kindergarten, where toddlers competed in a baby crawling race, and parents attended talks on early child development. Sounds great, right? But wait, here’s a bombshell – Deputy Minister Biljana Rakić proudly claims that the current parental allowance in Serbia is the largest in history and the biggest in the Balkans! Is that really true or just a nice story for the media?

But that’s not all! The ministry also established an alimentary fund to financially support children of divorced parents. The idea is great, but how many children actually receive this help? And how sufficient is it in real life? The Parenting Caravan will visit ten cities and municipalities across Serbia in July, bringing information and support directly to the field – parks, kindergartens, schools. It all sounds like a fairy tale, but will parents really feel the difference?

The city of Šabac is proud to participate in this project, and city council member Mijailović says it’s an opportunity for parents to get advice and support. At the end of the program, children planted peace plants, which is cute, but will it change the real problems families face?

As the caravan spreads across Serbia, the question remains – is this just another media campaign or real change? If you’re a parent, you might have already felt how hard it is to get real support. And if you’re not, maybe it’s time to ask yourself – how much does the state really care about families? Or is it all just a show?

Anyway, if you have your own story or opinion about this campaign, feel free to drop a comment. Is the Parenting Caravan a light at the end of the tunnel or just another circus? We’ll be watching and waiting for your reactions!
