Kosovo Police Arrest Deputy Director of Office for KiM: Espionage or Political Persecution?

The Arrest Shaking Kosovo and Metohija!

Imagine this: Igor Popović, the Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, has been arrested by Kosovo police! Yes, you read that right. This happened after Popović attended a commemoration for the Serbian victims in Orahovac, victims of the criminal Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

The Office Director, Petar Petković, immediately reacted and informed Brussels, demanding the urgent release of his associate. Why? Because Popović was arrested on suspicion of espionage — just for calling things by their real names!

At the July 1999 memorial, Popović clearly stated that the KLA is a terrorist organization that killed 47 Serbs and Roma and kidnapped hundreds of innocent people. But instead of facing the truth, Kosovo authorities decided to punish him with detention.

The Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the arrest at the Brnjak crossing, stating that Popović gave a “harsh speech against the KLA.” Is speaking the truth really a reason for arrest?

This arrest is not just a legal case — it’s a political message. Prime Minister Kurti seems to want to provoke a new crisis on the ground and sends a clear message to Serbs that they cannot expect peace or justice.

Is this the start of a new phase of pressure on Serbs in Kosovo? Will international missions truly protect their citizens? Or will we watch rights and freedoms fade under political games?

Either way, this arrest casts a shadow over already fragile relations and reminds us how tense and uncertain the situation in Kosovo and Metohija remains.

What do you think? Is Popović a victim of political persecution or is there something more serious at play? Drop a comment, let the people’s voice be heard!
