KotorArt Orchestra Revives Vivaldi: Three Centuries, Three Seasons, and One Festival You Can’t Miss

Imagine this: in the heart of the KotorArt festival, inside the magnificent Cathedral of St. Tryphon, something happened last night that will make you rethink everything you know about classical music. The Festival Orchestra of Montenegro, under the baton of maestro Mladen Tarbuk, performed two monumental works of the string repertoire – Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings in E major. But this was no ordinary concert. No, no! This was a musical time machine that connected three centuries of music and brought the spirit of the seasons to life in a way Montenegro has never seen before.

Why does this matter? Because 2024 is the year of Vivaldi, and the orchestra decided to pay tribute in a special way. The soloists – Luka Perazić (spring and autumn), Neda Stojkanović (summer), and Jelena Jovović (winter) – didn’t just play notes, they infused emotion and style that are rare and demanding. They played with a lowered tuning, lower than usual, which made the performance even more challenging but gave a unique color to the sound. Jelena Jovović highlighted how complex and challenging the repertoire is, but also how much joy it was to play together after so many years.

Maestro Tarbuk and the orchestra showed they are ready to push boundaries. The audience rewarded the performance with thunderous applause, and the atmosphere in the cathedral was charged with energy and emotion. Luka Perazić was especially proud to have the chance to play two seasons and emphasized how much love and unity filled this concert.

But that’s not all! After this spectacle, the festival moves to the museum square where tonight the trio “Tri lepe čine” will perform – three amazing artists blending indirock, folk, blues, and ambient music. If you thought classical music was the only star of the festival, think again!

KotorArt is not just a festival; it’s a cultural galaxy that connects past and present, classical and modern, serious and fun. If you weren’t there, you missed something that will be talked about for a long time. And if you were, you know what we’re talking about. Now it’s your turn – are you ready to join this musical madness? Or will you stay home and listen to the radio? Drop a comment, crack a joke, or just enjoy the sounds that are changing the world!
