Street Paving in Kragujevac: 12 Tons of Asphalt for Just Two Streets?

Kragujevac got a fresh layer of asphalt, but is it really something to celebrate? JKP Šumadija has completed paving two streets in the Uglješnica neighborhood, using a total of 12 tons of asphalt. Yes, you read that right — just 12 tons for two streets! The investment was 4.4 million dinars, but what do we actually get in return? Preparatory works included mechanical excavation of the existing road structure, filling and rolling new stone material, and raising manhole covers to the correct level. Sounds like serious work, but is it worth the money? The director of JKP Šumadija, Miroslav Petrascarinović, emphasized that the focus in the coming period will be on restoring the surfaces disturbed by the works of company A1, which is installing optical connections. Besides paving, there are ongoing works on reconstructing the plateau on Crvenog Barjaka street, and installing paving stones in a small park, where new benches will be placed and old street lamps replaced. It sounds like something is being done, but one wonders — is this just a drop in the ocean of needed infrastructure investments in Kragujevac? While streets are being patched and tidied up, citizens wonder when bigger and more significant changes will come to their city. What do you think about these works? Is 12 tons of asphalt for two streets a sign of progress or just another drop in the ocean of promises? Drop a comment, maybe together we’ll uncover what’s really going on in Kragujevac!
