Fire Erupts at Kragujevac City Landfill: Blazing Trash Fueled by Scorching Heat!

Kragujevac is literally on fire today – the city landfill is blazing! The fire broke out around 9 AM, and the culprit? Spontaneous combustion of trash due to scorching daytime temperatures that have broken all records. Firefighters rushed in with four vehicles, but thick smoke still spreads and the flames keep roaring. The Emergency Management and the public utility company “Šumadija” are battling the fiery beast threatening to engulf a huge part of the landfill.

This isn’t an isolated incident in Serbia this summer, as temperatures are so high that trash is literally catching fire on its own! Is this a climate warning or a sign that city authorities have failed in waste management? While Kragujevac chokes on smoke, citizens wonder – what’s next? Will we soon see fires on every landfill across the country?

As firefighters fight the blaze, city officials promise measures to prevent such disasters in the future, but will it be enough? High temperatures combined with poor waste management are a recipe for disaster. If nothing changes, Kragujevac and other cities might become permanent targets of fiery catastrophes.
