Kuz – Sremska Rača Highway: The Infrastructure Marvel Changing Everything!
Imagine an 18-kilometer highway with a bridge over the Sava River that’s a true engineering beast – and it’s in full swing! The Kuz – Sremska Rača section, under rapid construction, is not just any road. It’s a bridge between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, a symbol of connection between two peoples and a huge economic potential.
Work is ongoing, and the first layer of asphalt has already been laid on about 10 kilometers of the route. The Turkish company TaşYapı and the local firm Srem Put are working like clockwork, with synchronization being key to finishing on time and allowing traffic to flow smoothly.
But wait, there’s more! The border crossing at Sremska Rača will be a giant – with 12 lanes! Four lanes for cars and eight for freight traffic, on a complex spanning 50 hectares. This means less waiting, faster flow of goods and people, and new opportunities for the economy and citizens.
The bridge over the Sava is the most demanding part of the project – with concrete approach structures and a steel construction over the river, totaling over 1,000 meters in length. Work on the bridge is nearly complete on the Serbian side, and intensive work is ongoing on the Bosnian side.
Besides the main bridge, eight smaller bridges, 11 underpasses, five overpasses, and two large interchanges are being built. All this complicates the project but shows how massive and important it is.
Funded by Serbia, the goal is to connect Belgrade and Sarajevo and link to the Pan-European corridors. The section is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with traffic fully opened.
This highway is not just a road – it’s a bridge to the future, a symbol of cooperation and development. What do you think? Will this project finally take Serbia and BiH off the traffic jam map? Or will border waits continue to annoy us? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s optimistic and who’s skeptical!
