Lake Provala has become a real danger zone for swimmers! In just the past ten days, two men have drowned at the same spot – a 63-year-old from Bođani and a 41-year-old from Vajska. Despite quick reactions from fellow swimmers who pulled the victims out of the water and the lightning-fast arrival of emergency services, sadly, they could not be saved. To make matters worse, just a few days ago, another man’s body was pulled from Lake Tikvara near Bačka Palanka. Is this just a string of bad luck or a glaring sign that something is seriously wrong with safety at these swimming spots?
A similar tragedy occurred at the dam beach in Jajce, where an older man lost his life. Members of the Federal Civil Protection Service (FUCZ) reacted quickly, but their efforts were not enough to save him. The investigation is ongoing, but one thing is clear – these incidents make us question how safe we really are while enjoying summer fun in the water.
These tragedies are not just statistics; they are a wake-up call! Emergency and rescue services are doing their job, but is it enough? Are swimmers properly educated about the dangers? Are swimming areas adequately marked and supervised? While we wait for answers, the number of drownings continues to rise, and tragedies keep repeating.
If you’ve ever been to these places, you know how tempting but dangerous the water can be. Maybe it’s time for all of us to work together on prevention and safety because no emergency response can bring back a lost life. What do you think – is this just bad luck or a systemic failure? Drop a comment, maybe your idea could save a life!
