Legionella at the Institute for Mother and Child: No Drinking Water, Kids Left Without Hygiene!

Imagine this – at the Institute for Mother and Child, a place where the most vulnerable are cared for, the legionella bacteria has been found! Yes, that very bacteria that can cause severe pneumonia and even deadly outcomes is now in the water that children and mothers are supposed to use. And what happened? Instead of immediately providing a temporary water tank with clean water, patients and staff are left without water for drinking and personal hygiene. Kids can’t wash their hands, mothers lack basic hygiene facilities, and the director requested a solution back in late June, but nothing has changed!

Experts warn that legionella can infect anyone – from newborns to elderly people with weakened immune systems. The pipe disinfection is underway, but without water, how are patients and staff supposed to cope? Miloš Jovanić, whose wife visited their daughter at the Institute, says the situation is catastrophic – people have to buy water from stores because there is no alternative.

Why is there no water tank? Why is there no urgent response in an institution that cares for children? Is this negligence or complete chaos in the system? This is not a shoe factory in the desert, this is a healthcare institution! And while children and mothers suffer, the director and officials remain silent. If you care about health and hygiene, maybe it’s time to ask – who do we even trust? What do you think about this water disaster? Drop a comment, maybe together we’ll find a solution or at least someone who will act!
