Bulgaria – The New Hotspot for Budget Tourists or Just Another Beach with Surprises?
Have you ever thought that a vacation can be cheap and still decent? Our tourists traditionally choose Greece, Montenegro, Turkey, or Egypt, but in recent years Bulgaria has become a hit due to low prices. Blogger Igor Milanović shared his experience on Instagram from Sunny Beach and admitted he was pleasantly surprised.
Prices That Tempt:
A large slice of pizza for just 2.5 euros, coffee and magnets for 1 euro each, draft beer for 2 euros, and a meal for two in a restaurant under 20 euros? Yes, you read that right! A set of umbrella and two sunbeds costs 15 euros.
Beaches and Sea:
Sunny Beach has a long sandy beach with fine sand and the sea is refreshing but not too warm — the temperature at the end of June was 24 degrees Celsius. Some tourists complain about cold water and jellyfish, while others praise the clear water and even say they enjoyed it so much they extended their stay from 10 to 15 days!
What Else?
Besides the beach, there are numerous boutiques, an exciting amusement park, and the old town of Nessebar, protected by UNESCO. The hotel with an all-inclusive package offered three main meals, two snacks, and unlimited drinks.
But Not Everything is Perfect:
Many still consider the sea too cold, and some compare it to a lake or swamp. Jellyfish are a common occurrence, which can spoil the fun.
Conclusion:
Bulgaria is definitely an option for those who want to save money, but is it enough to outweigh some of the downsides? Milanović gave it an 8 out of 10, and tourist comments are mixed — from delight to caution.
If you’ve ever thought about Bulgaria as a destination, maybe it’s time to take the plunge and see for yourself. And if you’ve already been, share your impressions — is Bulgaria really a hidden gem or just a cheap substitute?
After all, who likes to pay more for the same thing they can get cheaper? Just watch out for the jellyfish! 😉
