A litija (religious procession) was held in Budva on the occasion of the city’s patron saint day, Trojičindan, led by the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Joanikije. The procession passed through the main old town streets and included political leaders Nikola Jovanović and Mladen Mikijelj, who are political opponents. This traditional religious celebration holds significance for the local community and the Budva church municipality. After the litija, a spiritual academy was held. Different media outlets report on the event emphasizing various aspects, from religious significance and community unity to political implications of the presence of opposing politicians.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning media tend to emphasize the religious and cultural significance of the litija, highlighting the community’s unity and the spiritual importance of the event. They may also note the presence of political opponents as a sign of potential reconciliation or cooperation within the community.

Center: Centrist media report the event factually, focusing on the litija as a traditional religious celebration in Budva, mentioning the participation of political figures without heavy political interpretation. The coverage is balanced, noting both the religious aspects and the political presence.

Right: Right-leaning media often highlight the political dimension of the event, focusing on the presence of political rivals Nikola Jovanović and Mladen Mikijelj in the litija. They may interpret this as a political statement or a rare moment of unity, sometimes emphasizing the role of the Serbian Orthodox Church in local politics.
