Lale and Gita Sokolov were survivors of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. Lale tattooed numbers on the arms of prisoners, where he met Gita Furman, a young Jewish woman. In the “Kanada” camp, where prisoners had better access to food, Lale found the strength to survive until the liberation in 1945. After the war, Lale began searching for Gita in Slovakia. Their reunion was touching, and they got married the same year. Later, they moved to Australia and had a son.
