Hell on Loznica’s Landfill: Fire That Won’t Quit and Smoke Choking the City

Imagine the city of Loznica, battling for days with a fire at the city landfill that has engulfed deep layers of waste. Water? Forget it! It didn’t work. Now they’re burying the fire with earth to cut off oxygen because fire needs air, and here it’s starved! A state of emergency has been declared in a wide zone around the landfill, and the spreading smoke is forcing people to keep their windows shut. A mobile measuring station was set up to monitor air quality, but residents are still breathing poison. Although measurements showed the air quality is currently good, the smoke still threatens people’s health. All responsible services are on site, but the question is how long this hell will last. Is this just the tip of the iceberg of landfill and environmental protection problems in Serbia? If you have ideas on how to stop this madness or just want to share how much the smoke has annoyed you, feel free to drop a comment. Let the people’s voice be heard because the smoke won’t quit and the problems keep piling up!
