Just when you thought basketball transfers were boring, Luka Vildoza comes along and shakes things up! The Argentine point guard, who has shined for Olympiakos and Panathinaikos, has decided to continue his career at Virtus Bologna — and not for the money, but because of one name: Duško Ivanović! Yes, you read that right. Vildoza openly admitted that the Serbian coach is the main reason for his move to Italy. The two have worked together before at Crvena Zvezda and Baskonia, and now they’re reuniting.
“I talked with Duško, and he is one of the main reasons I’m going to Virtus. I no longer had my place at Olympiakos, I wanted to stay, but it wasn’t my decision. Now I’m happy to be at Virtus and look forward to having the ball more next season,” Vildoza told Sport24.
But wait, there’s more! Vildoza expressed his love for both Greek clubs he played for and said winning the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos was the biggest achievement of his career. Still, he admits he had a better role at Olympiakos, where he played more and won a championship.
This move shines a new light on Virtus, who clearly are ready to fight for the top of Europe with the firepower brought by this experienced point guard and his coach Ivanović. If you thought European basketball was dull, think again!
So, did Vildoza make the right move? Will Duško Ivanović get the best out of this player? Or is this just another transfer saga? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s in and who’s out!
