Mandic and Government Team Up to Close EU Chapters: Opposition as the Secret Weapon?

Montenegro is brewing a political drama with a European twist! Andrija Mandic, the Speaker of the Parliament, is not just promising to close all EU negotiation chapters but is also praising the opposition as a key partner in this process. Is this genuine partnership or just political theater? While Mandic claims EU enlargement is a necessity and Montenegro is ready to be part of the solution, European rapporteur Marjan Šarec reminds us of burning issues: organized crime, corruption, judiciary reform, media freedom, and electoral law that stalls political work. Šarec especially stresses that local elections must be held on a single day because constant electoral races slow down institutions. Relations between Montenegro and Croatia, he says, are far from ideal, adding more complexity. Maida Gorčević, European affairs expert, calls European integration a “generational dream come true” and the key to social and economic transformation. All this was discussed at the conference “Future of EU Enlargement – EU Future Now,” held in the Montenegrin parliament with many European MPs attending. Is Montenegro truly ready for the EU, or is this just another political show? Got thoughts? Drop them in the comments — maybe you’ll be the one to uncover the real deal!
