Marijuana in Ruma and Novi Sad: Police Aren’t Backing Down!
In Ruma, Sremska Mitrovica, police uncovered a small marijuana plantation — 90 plants about 35 centimeters tall, along with sprayers and 43 grams of dry plant material suspected to be marijuana. A 33-year-old man was arrested and held for 48 hours, facing criminal charges for unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotics.
A similar scene unfolded in Novi Sad where police stopped a 23-year-old man who tried to flee in a car. Seven packages of marijuana weighing about a kilogram were found in his backpack. He was also held for 48 hours and will be brought before the prosecutor.
Montenegro Means Business on Drugs!
In Berane, police filed criminal and misdemeanor charges against several individuals for possession and production of marijuana. Hand-rolled cigarettes with plant material resembling marijuana and Xanax tablets were found. One detainee tried to discard two packages of marijuana during a check. Police also filed charges against a driver who refused to undergo testing for psychoactive substances.
What’s Going On With Drugs in the Region?
These cases make it clear that police in Serbia and Montenegro are relentless in fighting unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotics. The arrested individuals range in age from 23 to 33, and the amounts of drugs found vary from several dozen grams to a kilogram.
It’s obvious that marijuana plantations and smuggling still flourish, but police actions are becoming more frequent and effective. Is this a sign that street conditions will improve or just a drop in the ocean of problems?
Fun or Danger?
While some consider marijuana a harmless plant, these cases show that illegal production and trafficking are serious issues involving criminal charges, arrests, and court proceedings. Police make no exceptions — the law is the law.
Conclusion
If you think marijuana is just harmless fun, think again. Police in the region are on alert and won’t let plantations and smuggling spread without consequences. These actions are just the tip of the iceberg in the fight against drugs.
