Red Star and Football Legends: Arnautović and Tadić on the Brink of Marakana?
Zvezdan Terzić, the general director of Red Star Belgrade, is not holding back! In a recent interview on Arena Sport, Terzić openly discussed the possible arrivals of Marko Arnautović and Dušan Tadić, two players considered football gods by many. But is this just a dream or is something really brewing?
Marko Arnautović – a world-class player with a Serbian passport
Terzić made it clear: Arnautović is no ordinary player. He was once one of the best strikers in Europe, with experience in the Premier League and other top leagues. Although he is not the type of player to replace Šerif Endiáj, his doors to Red Star are always open. If Endiáj leaves, Red Star is looking for a different player profile, and Arnautović is definitely on the wish list.
Dušan Tadić – the captain who could elevate Red Star to a new level
Terzić revealed he had a working lunch with Tadić, the former Serbian captain, and that the idea of his arrival was seriously considered. Tadić is known as a top professional, an ascetic who takes great care of his body and career. Terzić claims Tadić would raise the quality of Red Star’s play and make every player better.
However, Tadić has decided to continue his career outside Serbia, with options in Russia, Italy, Spain, and America. Although he had offers from Red Star, Karabakh, and Panathinaikos, he decided not to return to Serbian football.
What does this mean for Red Star?
Terzić is optimistic. The team was formed earlier than ever, with all players ready for the season start. Red Star plans two more reinforcements – a defensive midfielder and a fast right winger. Maksimović is the most interesting player on the European market, and Endiáj has offers but remains irreplaceable until the end of qualifiers.
Terzić especially praised players like Rade Krunić and Sava Katai, who were surprises in the preparations.
Will Red Star manage to bring the legends?
Although Tadić has definitively said “no” to returning, the doors remain wide open for Arnautović. Terzić clearly stated that Red Star wants to gather the best Serbian players and compete at the highest level.
