Massive Traffic Jams and Chaos on E75 Highway: Drivers Brace Yourselves!
If you’re planning a trip towards Niš or Belgrade, get ready for a real traffic nightmare! On the E75 highway section between Mali Požarevac and Vrčin, near Begaljički pass, the new asphalt has been laid on the right lane, but instead of relief, it has caused chaos and traffic jams that will last for days.
What’s going on? The Serbian Roads Public Enterprise has completed rehabilitation works on the right lane of the highway heading towards Niš. However, due to ongoing works on horizontal road markings and barrier adjustments, traffic is currently altered and moving slowly. Traffic towards Niš is running on three lanes – the emergency lane, the driving lane, and the overtaking lane, while the overtaking lane in the opposite direction is closed. Traffic towards Belgrade is two-way, which further complicates the situation.
The result? Traffic jams are massive, and drivers complain about slow movement and difficult passage. The Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Serbia (AMSS) warns about increased traffic intensity due to summer holidays and transit of foreign nationals passing through Serbia to summer destinations. In short – everyone is on the road, and the highway is on the verge of collapse.
A plea to drivers: Serbian Roads and AMSS urge drivers to obey traffic signs and adjust their speed to road conditions. Fatigue is one of the main causes of accidents, so taking breaks every two hours is recommended. The highways are equipped with rest areas, so there’s no excuse for driving without breaks.
Why is this a problem? Imagine you set off for a holiday or business trip, but instead of enjoying the drive, you get stuck in kilometer-long queues, nervous and exhausted. This is not just an inconvenience – it increases the risk of accidents and stress. And all this because of works that, although necessary, are poorly timed and organized.
What to expect? Works will continue for several more days, and traffic jams will only increase as the holiday season progresses. If you plan to travel, consider alternative routes or departure times. And don’t forget – patience is a virtue and the only salvation in this chaos.
Conclusion: The E75 highway is Serbia’s lifeline, but it is currently at a standstill. The works are necessary, but organization and driver information must improve. Until then, drivers, hold the wheel tight and don’t forget to smile – because what else can you do but get frustrated?
