Mastodon, one of the most prominent metal bands today, is going through a real-life drama worthy of Hollywood! After their historic farewell concert to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne on July 5th, drummer Brann Dailor shared how emotional the performance was and how that energy is now channeled into their next album. But wait, here comes the bombshell – founding guitarist Brent Hinds officially left the band on March 7th after a monumental 25 years! Although the split was described as mutual and respectful, Hinds later unleashed sharp words, calling Mastodon a bad band with awful people. The drama is real, and the band quickly reacted – at their first show without Hinds at the Tools Live in the Sand festival, YouTube guitarist Ben Eller stepped in on short notice, later joined by acclaimed guitarist Nick Johnston for the tour. Guitarist Bill Kelliher compared the departure to the end of a marriage, admitting people can drift apart after decades together. Still, the incredible outpouring of love, friendship, and gratitude remains. Mastodon is about to enter the studio to record their new album, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what this new era without Hinds will bring. Thought the metal scene was boring? Think again – this is just the beginning! So, what do you think about this split? Is Brent Hinds right or is the band? Drop a comment, let’s hear your take!
