Matura Chaos Unleashed by Marko Perković Thompson Concert

Imagine this – a thousand teachers, hardworking graders of the state matura exams in Zagreb, were all set to grade the tests, and then bam! Marko Perković Thompson’s concert at the hippodrome throws everything into chaos. Yes, you read that right! Because the concert was scheduled exactly on the day graders were supposed to work, the entire exam grading process got postponed. The National Center for External Evaluation of Education (NCVVO) had no choice but to cancel grading on Saturday, July 5th, since graders simply might not make it on time due to traffic jams and roadblocks caused by the concert.

NCVVO director Vinko Filipović explained they tried to assess the situation and even contacted the police and city authorities to see if traffic would be regulated so graders could arrive on time. The police confirmed there would be no obstacles on Friday, July 4th, but Saturday was a total mess. The result? Exam grading was postponed, meaning preliminary matura results will be announced later, on July 9th, and final results only on July 16th.

Is Marko Perković Thompson’s concert worth this chaos? Is it justified that one music event disrupts the education system and leaves thousands of young people in uncertainty? This isn’t just a Zagreb problem; it’s a broader question about society’s priorities. While kids fight for their future university spots, someone else is making noise and causing chaos.

And yes, if you think this is just another ordinary concert, think again. Marko Perković Thompson is a controversial figure, and his concert sparks divided opinions and tensions in society. Is it right for education to suffer because of such an event?

Either way, if you’re a matura student or a parent of one in Zagreb, brace yourself for extra stress and waiting. And for the rest of you, what do you think? Is the concert worth postponing exams? Or is this just another proof that our priorities are totally messed up? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s for and who’s against this musical chaos in education!
