Mayor Tomašević’s Statement on Thompson Concert and Hipodrom Affair

Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević spoke about the Hipodrom affair and the concert of Marko Perković Thompson. After the director of the sports facilities management institution, Kosta Kostanjević, resigned amid an investigation into the embezzlement of city funds, Tomašević stated that anyone found guilty will be held accountable. The city has received a detailed report from the concert organizer covering security and technical aspects, which has been submitted to the competent authorities for analysis. The mayor emphasized that the public will be informed of the analysis results, and organizational preparations for the event are underway, including cleaning and traffic management measures. He also expressed condolences to the families of the victims of a recent double murder in Zagreb and stressed that the city remains safe as all such cases in the past ten years have been solved.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning outlets emphasize the accountability and transparency aspects of the investigation into the alleged embezzlement of city funds related to the Hipodrom affair. They highlight the mayor’s commitment to justice and the importance of following due process. The focus is on governance, anti-corruption measures, and ensuring public trust in city administration.

Center: Centrist sources report the facts of the resignation of the director and the ongoing investigation, presenting the mayor’s statements about the concert and the security preparations in a neutral tone. They focus on the procedural aspects, the city’s efforts to ensure safety and order during the event, and the mayor’s condolences regarding recent violent incidents in the city.

Right: Right-leaning media may emphasize the cultural significance of the Thompson concert and the importance of allowing such events to proceed while maintaining public order. They might downplay the corruption allegations or frame them as isolated incidents, focusing instead on the mayor’s efforts to support cultural events and maintain city safety.
