3.2 million Croatians live abroad, sending money home.

Croatia has a significant diaspora of 3.2 million people, whose remittances account for 7.34% of the GDP, the highest in the EU. These remittances are increasing, particularly from countries such as Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands. At the same time, remittances from Croatia to other countries are also on the rise due to an increase in foreign workers. Most of the money is sent to neighboring countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, but also to Nepal, the Philippines, and India. This trend affects the country’s economic balance, as more money is being sent abroad.
