Milanović and SDP Support Palestine Recognition, While Croatia and EU Aim to Maintain Good Relations with Israel

Ah, the geopolitical soap opera is in full swing! While Croatia and the EU firmly keep their fingers crossed for the status quo in relations with Israel, President Zoran Milanović and the SDP just can’t stay silent – they want to recognize Palestine immediately! But hold on, it’s not that simple. Milanović wisely points out that Hamas is currently the only authority in Palestine, and recognizing a state at such a time might be like throwing gasoline on the fire. He clearly states that Palestine must achieve statehood, but not while controlled by a terrorist group that doesn’t protect its people but exposes them to danger.

The EU is divided: some demand stronger pressure on Israel over alleged human rights violations, while others, including Croatia, want relations to remain as they are, without sanctions or suspensions. Humanitarian aid has been sent to Gaza, but the red line has not been crossed. All this while the world spins in the whirlpool of conflict and diplomatic games.

Milanović doesn’t hold back criticism of Israel but also makes it clear that recognizing Palestine is not a simple move. He reminds that the Croatian people know what socialism, party, communism, and Bolshevism are, hinting at the political complexities within the country.

At this moment, as conflicts continue and the EU balances between pressure and maintaining relations, Croatia stands at a crossroads – will it follow Milanović and the SDP or stay loyal to the EU line? One thing is certain: this topic will continue to spark fiery debates and political tensions for a long time.

And you? Which side are you on? Is it time to recognize Palestine, or is it better to wait for calmer times? Drop a comment, let the voice of the people be heard!
