Minister Beriša in Selenča: Peace and Interethnic Relations Are Sacred!

When Minister Beriša visits the village of Selenča, he’s not just there to sip coffee and stare into the distance. No, he’s there to remind us all that interethnic relations in Serbia are sacred and no one should mess with them! In talks with the Bač municipality president and representatives of the Slovak national minority, the minister made it crystal clear: “Peace is the foundation for society’s progress!”

Selenča, where Slovaks make up the majority, isn’t just a dot on the map. It’s home to businesses like “Slovan Progres” and “Zdravo Organic” that have been operating for decades, providing jobs and boosting the local economy in Bač. The minister emphasized the state’s commitment to improving the status of all national minorities and its openness to dialogue about current challenges.

But let’s be real — how many times have we heard that “peace must be preserved”? Yet, incidents keep popping up reminding us it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Minister Beriša was blunt: “No one should damage relations between communities!” But who’s actually watching? Is this just lip service or real policy?

While the minister tours businesses and talks about interethnic tolerance, we have to ask — is that enough? Is just talking about peace and tolerance enough when problems persist? Or is it time for real change from the ground up?

If you’ve got thoughts on how Serbia handles interethnic relations, or if you think this is all just a show, feel free to drop a comment. Let’s hear the people’s voice, because peace isn’t just a word — it’s a job for all of us!
