Minister Popović on Vidovdan Violence: Unity, Not Conflict!

Vidovdan, the sacred Serbian holiday, turned into chaos on the streets of Belgrade! Minister Nenad Popović is not holding back and sharply condemns the violence that erupted during the opposition rally. “Vidovdan should be a symbol of unity, not conflict!” Popović declares, as the streets turn into a battlefield. Calls for violent overthrow of the constitutional order and seizure of power, made by the protest organizers, escalated into open attacks on the police. Is this really how we celebrate one of the greatest Serbian holidays?

Popović reminds us of the tragic past, when divisions and betrayals followed the Battle of Kosovo, warning that calls for civil strife and persecution of dissenters are unacceptable. Instead of unity, we saw violence and chaos, right on the day that should remind us of national harmony.

This incident casts a shadow over the significance of Vidovdan and raises the question: where has wisdom and respect for tradition gone? While Belgrade struggles with violence, the minister clearly states that Serbia must not allow its sacred holidays to become a stage for conflict and chaos.

If you think this is just another ordinary protest, think again. This is a call to reflect on how we treat our history and each other. So, what do you think? Is violence ever justified, even on Vidovdan? Drop a comment, let the people’s voice be heard!
