Podgorica is hosting European youth handball championships for the fifth year in a row, a historic first where one country is entrusted with organizing two such tournaments in the same year by the European Handball Federation (EHF). The first event is the European Championship for players under 19, kicking off this Wednesday at 5 PM in Bemaks Arena, where our young lionesses will open the competition against Lithuania. Coach Igor Marković admits the team faces many challenges, including injuries to key players like Elena Mitrović, but insists the squad has the quality to compete with anyone. The roster includes 18 players, with Denmark and Iceland also in the group, battling for a spot in the main round. Marković is pleased with the preparations despite the setbacks and believes the team can deliver a strong performance and reach their goal. The opening match against Lithuania promises to be tough, especially with the pressure of playing at home, but the team is expected to justify their favorite status. Denmark stands as the European handball powerhouse and the biggest threat, while the match against Iceland will likely decide who advances. This is a golden opportunity for Montenegro’s young handball talents to shine and fight for European glory. If you love sports and rising stars, this is a story you don’t want to miss! So, what do you think? Can our lionesses shock Europe? Drop a comment and join the conversation!
