Mobile Phone Users in Montenegro on the Rise: Who’s Holding the Market?

Mobile Phone Users in Montenegro on the Rise: Who’s Holding the Market?

Did you know that by the end of May, Montenegro had a whopping 1.37 million mobile phone users? Yes, you read that right! That’s a 0.85% increase from April, and compared to the same period last year, the number of users jumped by a staggering 3.79%!

Penetration That Just Won’t Quit

Mobile phone penetration in Montenegro now stands at an eye-popping 264%, meaning there are more mobile numbers than people! Is this a sign that we’re all addicted to our phones or that people have multiple numbers? Probably both.

Who’s Running the Show?

The market is dominated by three big players: MTEL, Crnogorski Telekom, and TeleGroup. MTEL leads with 42.31% of users, Crnogorski Telekom follows with 34.43%, and TeleGroup holds 23.26%. But when it comes to prepaid users, MTEL commands a massive 51.53%, showing they’re the favorite among those who like to keep their spending in check.

Postpaid vs Prepaid: Who’s the King?

Postpaid users make up 60.96% of the total, while prepaid users account for 39.04%. Crnogorski Telekom boasts the largest share of postpaid users at 39.25%, with MTEL close behind at 36.39%. This suggests Crnogorski Telekom users prefer long-term contracts, while MTEL dominates the prepaid segment.

What Does This Mean for You?

If you’re a mobile user in Montenegro, you’ve probably noticed how saturated the market is and how diverse the offers are. But have you ever wondered who’s really cashing in on your monthly bill? Or why so many people have multiple numbers?

Is This Market Healthy?

With such high penetration and fierce competition, can the market survive without users being overwhelmed by offers and operators losing profits? Will new players emerge, or will the dominance remain the same?

The Bottom Line

The number of mobile phone users in Montenegro is growing, and the market is in the hands of a few big players. If you thought your mobile operator was just another company, think again — they’re the ones calling the shots on how much you pay for communication.

Now, dear readers, are you one of those with multiple SIM cards? Or loyal to just one operator? Drop a comment and let’s see who really rules the mobile phone game in your pocket! Or maybe you have a hilarious reason for sticking to prepaid? Don’t be shy!
