Monster from Daruvar in Court: I Defended When It Was Necessary

At the trial of Kresimir Pahoki, a retired military policeman accused of killing six people and injuring six others in a nursing home in Daruvar, Pahoki stated that he defended when it was necessary and greeted Croatian war veterans. Psychiatric evaluation showed he does not suffer from mental illness but has narcissistic and dissocial personality traits. The incident occurred on July 22 last year when Pahoki arrived at the home and started shooting without warning, killing six people including his mother and injuring five others. After the act, he calmly sat in a cafe and waited for the police who arrested him.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning outlets focus on the psychological evaluation of Pahoki, emphasizing the mental health aspects and the societal implications of violence. They highlight the tragedy of the victims and the need for better mental health support and gun control.

Center: Center-leaning sources report the facts of the case straightforwardly, focusing on the legal proceedings, the details of the incident, and the statements made by Pahoki. They provide balanced coverage without much editorializing.

Right: Right-leaning media emphasize Pahoki’s background as a military policeman and his statement about defending when necessary, often framing the narrative around his identity as a Croatian war veteran. They may also focus on law and order and the consequences of the crime.
