Montenegro Health Workers Union Announces Protest Over Dire Working Conditions

Healthcare on the Brink: Montenegro’s Health Workers Union Declares Protest!

Healthcare workers in Montenegro have had enough! Years of injustice, neglect, and terrible working conditions have pushed them to the edge. The Health Workers Union of the Clinical Center of Montenegro held a press conference and announced a protest set for Thursday at 3 PM at Vektra Square, right in front of the Ministry of Health.

Who are the heroes the state forgets?

Nurses, technicians, pharmacists, physiotherapists – these are the people carrying the heavy burden of the healthcare system every day. For years, they have faced increasing responsibilities with little recognition or reform. Stana Labudović from the Special Pulmonary Disease Hospital “Dr. Jovan Bulajić” highlights the specific risks they face daily – from tuberculosis to exposure to cytostatics and radiation. And what about their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic? Quickly forgotten, while working conditions remain unchanged.

Salaries that don’t even guarantee a basic life

Union president Vladimir Pavićević demands an increase in the coefficient from 6.58 to 7.50. The starting salary, determined by this coefficient, is far from guaranteeing a decent life, housing security, or professional development. The big question: who will work in healthcare tomorrow if things stay like this?

Protest as the last hope

The protest, under the slogan “Preserving the Healthcare System,” is scheduled for July 3 at Vektra Square. The goal is to unite the public in demanding better conditions for those on the front lines of caring for our health. Organizers call on all citizens to support this initiative because now is the time to hear the voices of those most affected.

Why does this matter?

The healthcare system is the backbone of society. If we don’t take care of those who make it work, who will take care of us? This fight isn’t just for healthcare workers; it’s for all of us. Because when healthcare collapses, society collapses.

Will the government finally listen?

This isn’t just another protest. It’s a cry for justice, dignity, and respect. If conditions don’t change, the consequences will be catastrophic. So, if you’ve got something to say, if you care about the health and future of Montenegro, maybe it’s time to join the conversation. Or at least drop a sarcastic comment – because who likes to stay silent while their healthcare falls apart?

Stay tuned for more updates and remember – healthcare is our shared responsibility!
