Chaos on Montenegrin Roads: Traffic Collapse and Total Mayhem Due to Roadworks and Landslides!

Welcome to Montenegro, the land where driving turns into a life adventure! Today, expect increased vehicle traffic, but not because of a tourist boom — it’s due to the absolute chaos on the roads reaching its peak. The Auto-Moto Association of Montenegro (AMSCG) urges drivers to take more frequent breaks because your patience is about to be tested.

Picture this: the regional road Đurđevića Tara – Mojkovac is closed at Sokolovina due to a rockslide! Yes, you read that right, nature decided to make your life harder while they fix this critical spot. And that’s not all! On regional road R29, between Bar and Kamenički Most in Krute, traffic will be stopped three times — from 8 to 11, 13 to 16 hours. Who said driving is easy?

Main roads M2 and M3 aren’t any better. On the sections Ribarevine – Poda Poda Berane and Plužine – Jasenovo Polje, traffic is reduced to one lane, alternating, controlled by traffic lights. On regional road R19 in Andrijevica, traffic mode changed from two-way to one-way at the construction site. Vojsavljevića street in Podgorica is completely closed due to boulevard construction, and vehicles are rerouted to alternative paths.

Thought that was it? Nope! Main road M6 between Pljevlja and Đurđevića Tara, as well as the Šavnik – Žabljak section, have changed traffic regimes due to landslide and cliff repairs. On M3, Šćepan Polje – Đailovgrad section, traffic is alternating due to asphalt works, and on R23 between Bogetići and Glava Zete, traffic runs on one lane.

And let’s not forget the bridges on M7, where due to installation of expansion joints, traffic mode changes from two-way to one-way. In short, if you planned to drive through Montenegro today, better bring patience, good music, and maybe a sandwich for the road.

AMSCG advises drivers to respect all restrictions and bans, adapt driving to weather conditions, and be ready for delays. If you thought this is just another day on the roads, think again — this is a real test of your endurance and nerves.

So, who still loves driving in Montenegro? If you have a hilarious story from our roads, feel free to share it in the comments. Maybe together we’ll find a way to survive this traffic madness!
