MONTENEGRO IN TOTAL CHAOS: Spatial Plan Passed Without Procedure, Kotor Ship Seized, and Institutions Crumbling!
Welcome to Montenegro 2024, where rules are made to be broken, and institutions fall like dominoes! The leader of the civic movement URA, Dritan Abazović, spares no words in his latest podcast “Friday with Dritan” – Montenegro’s spatial plan is an “institutional chaos” and a “legal-democratic collapse” that will have catastrophic consequences.
Spatial Plan – A Procedural Disaster
Imagine this: a spatial plan that defines the future of the entire country passed with a razor-thin majority of 41 or 42 votes, without broader consensus and without respecting basic legal procedures! The Environmental Protection Agency didn’t even get to give its opinion, and the Speaker of Parliament, Andrija Mandić, claims that MPs can vote on anything because they have a mandate from the people. Does that mean they can break the Constitution and laws? Of course not!
Natural Gems Under Attack
The spatial plan is not only procedurally illegitimate but also opens the door to the devastation of Montenegro’s natural areas. Komarnica, previously protected from flooding, is now on the table for possible destruction. Sinjajevina, known for opposing the military polygon, has been forgotten by the new parliamentary majority. Montenegro, a country with few natural resources, now risks losing its most valuable asset – its land and nature.
Kotor Ship – Scandal and Corruption
To make matters worse, the Kotor ship is stuck in American territorial waters due to technical defects, and the fine that Montenegrin citizens will pay is about a thousand euros. But Abazović suspects corruption in the ship’s repair. For years, warnings were issued about the need to invest in the maritime sector and buy their own ferries, but now we have a total debacle. The line to Italy is praised without results – how many passengers and cars have been transported? The financial statements of the Bar Montenegrin Shipping Company are catastrophic. A shame for a maritime country!
Institutional Collapse and Incompetence
Abazović does not spare criticism of the government and parliamentary majority, calling them “grotesque” and “deliberate” in destroying institutions. Such chaos and irresponsibility lead to complete institutional degradation and suppression of civic activism. Montenegro is on the verge of losing control over its most important resources, and citizens will pay the price.
What Next?
This is not just a political drama – it’s an alarm for all Montenegrin citizens. If we allow this to continue, nature will be destroyed, institutions ruined, and the state brought to the brink of collapse. Will we allow our country to become a playground for corruption and irresponsibility? Or will we wake up and demand accountability?
Meanwhile, while the Kotor ship is being repaired or not, and the spatial plan brings chaos, maybe it’s time for all of us to chime in – what do you think, is this the end of Montenegro as we know it? Or just another episode in an endless soap opera? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s for saving and who’s for chaos!
